Precision agriculture is predicted to represent about 80 percent of the potential commercial market for unmanned aircraft systems, or about $66 billion over 11 years.
In other words, this is not a market you want to turn your back on.
This fall, Robotics Alley will play host to some of the big players in precision agriculture. A dedicated "Agriculture Track" is being chaired by Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, who has assembled a program filled with experts in precision agriculture, dairy production, and UAV agriculture automation. Confirmed speakers include:
• Jim Salfer, Dairy Extension Educator, Stearns County
• Kent Cavender-Bares, CEO, Rowbot Systems
• Larry Johnson, Owner, LLJ Consulting & Business Development
• Gary Balas, Professor Aerospace Engineering & Mechanics and Control Science & Dynamical Systems Center, University of Minnesota
• Patrick Weldon, Project Manager, Polaris Industries
• Harlan T. Jacobs, President and Founder, Genesis Business Centers, Ltd.
• Jerry Johnson, CEO and Founder, Superior Edge, Inc.
Agriculture is just one of the 9 track focuses at the 2014 Robotics Alley Conference & Expo. Other tracks are Healthcare & Medical Device, Manufacturing & Assembly, Transportation, Security & Defense, Retail & Commercial Applications, Research & Development, Legal, Business & Investment, and Engineering.
